Online Introduction Course: Writing

The marking feedback is vital to allow course participants to understand how marks are gained and lost. Please note the following key points:

• The marking feedback document must cover all scripts.
• It must be clear in your explanations why the candidates were awarded the marks.
• The marking feedback must have enough detail that they do not require any further explanation from the course tutor. The reason for this is that participants will take these resources away with them. They need to be able to look back at this information and get everything they need from it without any reference to course discussions etc.

To improve the discussion after scripts, we want to give participants the chance to focus on a particular script or section of a script that offer particular areas of challenge or interest.

After completing the marking feedback we need you to:

• Select particular sections and/or questions that participants can focus on during the marking activity to make the most of this time (participants will have the chance to mark all of the scripts if they wish).
• Provide a short paragraph explaining what parts of the scripts they will be focusing on and why these are important for them to be able to understand and assess accurately. This information will be displayed on the course page. There is an example paragraph shown at the bottom of this page.

Procedure change: We are now using the definitively marked scripts for you to select from. Marks in the definitively marked scripts cannot be changed so you will be unable to request for these to be reviewed. If for any reason we are unable to send you the definitively marked scripts, and have to use a more general selection, we will let you know.

EXCEPTION: If you are dealing with script examples which schools submit using SFA, these are raw centre marks and you can alter them as necessary. For example, speaking tests, PE and Drama video submissions and GP projects.
