The materials for this work package are to help make the most out of the marking activity. Comparing scripts and focusing discussions on specific questions or sections will give participants the opportunity to identify potential misconceptions when assessing candidate work.
From the scripts you have selected or created in Work package 1(a or b), please select responses that would generate enough discussion to fill at least 20 minutes of a face-to-face or virtual course. For longer responses such as essays, you may only need to select two examples. For shorter responses, you may need to select a set of questions.
For example, you could find similar question types across the scripts you have selected to compare and contrast. You could also compare and contrast the performance of a candidate across their script (e.g., they may answer structured questions better than extended answers, or their application of skills and knowledge maybe better in one section of the script than another).
For this work package, you need to:
- Select one high-level response; this will be used as an example of what a good response looks like. The subsequent responses should be from a different range to compare and contrast. Provide a short paragraph explaining why the best response is so successful. This information will be shared with participants.
- Select particular sections and/or questions of challenge or interest for participants to focus on during the marking discussion. Provide a short paragraph explaining why these sections/questions are important for them to be able to understand and assess accurately. This information will be shared with participants as part of the marking activity instructions.
